Performance and Film, Guernsey, 1998

Film shown at the Big Chill, 1998, in an exhibition curated by Alice Sharp.

“Natural High”, is a film of a private performance in a greenhouse full of wild carnations whose stems were twisted and deemed imperfect for sale. Spotted from the roadside whilst on a bus, the excessive quantity of flowers invited me to go in and sniff them all. I wondered if it was possible to get high from inhaling the scent of so many flowers. The soundtrack of bees buzzing creates a menacing atmosphere in an otherwise sleepy, dreamy situation.

Thanks to Alan Beckerleg.
