“Pilgrimage to the Cedars of Lebanon” by Csontvary Koszta, (1901) Re-created at the United Nations base in Tyre, Lebanon with a mixture of soldiers, staff and civilians. Kosztka was born in Budapest and after having a mystical vision, travelled around the world painting pictures as he went. In around 1890 he visited Lebanon and painted the Cedars.

Thanks to Mona Manolescu for organising the project and to all the participants especially Miguel Perez for rallying the troops, Ewa Turyu Mazurek, Simon Burgess and Nader Becham who worked hard during the finishing stages. It was a pleasure to work with so many nationalities at the same time. We had soldiers from Italy, Ireland, Ghana, Russia, Sri Lanka and civilian workers from all over the world. Participant countries; Italy, Spain, Romania, Indonesia, Lebanon, Ireland, Belgium, Malaysia, Japan, Guatemala.
